One Adrian apartments is proud to offer 38 Below Market Rent (BMR) apartments for eligible applicants under the 60% rent limit.
Income-restricted affordable housing refers to apartments where rents are limited based on a resident's income, ensuring affordability for low and moderate-income households.
Application process
The application helps determine your household size, income, and any special circumstances that may affect your eligibility for affordable housing programs. It provides important information for assessing your financial stability and determining if you meet the program requirements.
Screening process
One Adrian leasing team will review your file to make sure you meet the tenant criteria. They will perform a Tenant Screening to verify your income and credit history and determine your eligibility to rent an available BMR apartment.

Application Process
Do I Qualify?
Eligibility Criteria:
- Households must meet the minimum income requirement of 2.5 times the monthly rent.
- Household must meet Resident Selection Criteria, including credit and criminal background screening.
- Applicant’s household size must be appropriate for the apartment (minimum of one per bedroom and maximum of two per bedroom plus one).
- Households must have gross income at or below 60% rent limit for family size.
- Households must disclose all income and assets, and asset income is included in the calculation of total household income. Assets in restricted retirement accounts (the applicant cannot access the account without retiring or terminating employment) are not included in the calculation of total household assets.
How do I determine my household size?
Household size:
Your household consists of everyone who will live with you in the unit that you are applying to. Household members do not have to be part of the same family through marriage or birth. Your friend or roommate can be part of your household.How to apply?

I am on Section 8. Can I rent a BMR apartment?
- Yes, tenants who receive Section 8 may live in a BMR unit as long as they meet the income limits under the BMR program.
- Section 8 Tenant Paid Rents are determined by the local housing authority or the agency that issued the Section 8 voucher/contract.
- The Housing Assistance Payment, or rental assistance, is paid directly to the property manager.
